Tom Paris is a character featured in the science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager, portrayed by actor Robert Duncan McNeill.
He first appears in the pilot episode "Caretaker", which aired in 1995. Paris is a skilled pilot with a troubled past, having been dishonorably discharged from Starfleet.
Captain Kathryn Janeway offers him a second chance by reinstating him as a Lieutenant (j.g.) aboard the USS Voyager. Throughout the series, Paris works as Voyager's helmsman and proves to be a valuable member of the crew, despite his occasional rebellious tendencies.
He is known for his holographic recreations of classic Earth settings and his romantic relationship with B'Elanna Torres.
